Meet Coach Dan Sowu
Dan Sowu is a former professional basketball player and experienced coach dedicated to developing athletes both on and off the court. A former player at Butler University and Bemidji State University, Sowu has built his career around helping athletes develop confidence, mental toughness, discipline, leadership, and a strong work ethic through the game of basketball. Early in his career, Dan learned under renowned trainer Tim Grover at Attack Athletics in Chicago, where he assisted with 2008 NBA Pre-Draft workouts and witnessed the legendary Redeem Team prepare for the Olympics. Those experiences helped shape his intense, detail-oriented approach to player development and training. Dan later founded Elite Sports in 2009 and partnered with Five-Star Basketball Camp and Advantage Basketball Camps to help run the #1 and #2 rated basketball camps in America according to Sports Illustrated. He has reached thousands of athletes through camps, clinics, training, and partnerships with the Jr. NBA and WNBA. Coach Dan has also coached college basketball for five years, including helping Stephens College win the first conference championship in school history in any sport and advance to the 2nd round of the 2023 NAIA National Tournament. His philosophy: develop the complete athlete. Confidence, mental toughness, discipline, leadership, and accountability — through game-realistic skill development, shooting, basketball IQ, and decision-making in an energetic, competitive, positive environment.
